Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

St. Mary lost against Mesquite back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The St. Mary's Knights took a blow against the Mesquite Wildcats, falling 120-20. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 77-14.

Mesquite was led to victory by Navae Guidry and Lucy Fisher. Guidry went 13 for 17 en route to 31 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Fisher dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Fisher is now averaging an impressive 8 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Mehlberg, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

St. Mary's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Mesquite, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 23-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will welcome Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mesquite, they will host Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
