Softball Recap: Thornapple Kellogg Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Thornapple Kellogg dropped their record down to 3-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 5-2 to the West Catholic Falcons. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for West Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For West Catholic's part, Jordan Empie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Empie has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alaina Markules was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sarah Goffer, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

While Thornapple Kellogg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
