Softball Game Preview: Whiteland Warriors vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Whiteland Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Martinsville Artesians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whiteland will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Whiteland sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Brownstown Central.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Martinsville's offense. They came up short against Living Water Homeschool on Saturday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Artesians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Whiteland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Martinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Whiteland skirted past Martinsville 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
