Basketball Recap: Sami Liaromatis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lisle

It was a proper cat-fight when Wilmington took on Lisle on Thursday. The Wilmington Wildcats snuck past the Lisle Lions with a 37-31 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Wilmington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sami Liaromatis, who posted 12 points in addition to five steals and three blocks. Liaromatis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melia Hincherick, who scored 13 points and five boards.

Wilmington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive matches.

Wilmington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Lisle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilmington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Peotone at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Lisle and Resurrection will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
