Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

For the second straight game, Coronado will face off against Mira Mesa. The Islanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Coronado has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Coronado fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Mira Mesa on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Marauders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Islanders have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Mira Mesa's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zerek Zamora, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Nathaniel Widelski, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The victory (which was Mira Mesa's third in a row) raised their record to 10-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
