Soccer Game Preview: St. Anthony vs. St. Paul

The St. Anthony Saints are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Paul Swordsmen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Anthony's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, St. Anthony needed a bit of extra time to put away Paraclete. They beat the Spirits by a goal, winning 2-1. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by just one goal.

Christian Martin and Jason Glenn scored both of St. Anthony's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, St. Paul kept a clean sheet against St. Genevieve on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Valiants. The result kept the Swordsmen happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 17th.

St. Anthony pushed their record up to 7-4-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for St. Paul, they are also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8-2 record this season.

St. Anthony skirted past St. Paul 2-1 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Anthony since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
