Softball Recap: Tillamook Cheesemakers vs. Astoria Fishermen
Tillamook had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it four. They came up short against the Astoria Fishermen, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fishermen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-9 back in April.
As for Astoria, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
For Astoria's part, Finley Cameron was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Cameron a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayomi Holmstedt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
While Tillamook had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Tuesday.
