Baseball Recap: Gloucester County Tech Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gloucester County Tech hadn't done well against Kingsway recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Gloucester County Tech was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Kingsway. Winning may never get old, but Gloucester County Tech sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Alex Valay spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Michael Mason was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Jackson Dolson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Gloucester County Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Gloucester County Tech's record now sits at 15-8-1. As for Kingsway, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Gloucester County Tech and Kingsway should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Gloucester County Tech will square off against Pennsville Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (58 vs. 202). Meanwhile, Kingsway (ranked fourth) will meet Deptford (ranked 284th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
