Basketball Recap: Saranac Takes a Loss

Saranac played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Moriah Vikings, falling 60-39. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while the Vikings are ranked 159th).

It was another big night for Cooper Allen, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds for Moriah. Allen's evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Joe Pelkey was another key player, putting up five points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Saranac is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. As for Moriah, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Saranac will welcome Northern Adirondack at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moriah, they will take on AuSable Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
