Football Game Preview: Otter Valley Otters vs. Rice Memorial Green Knights

The Otter Valley Otters will venture away from home to square off against the Rice Memorial Green Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rice Memorial will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Otter Valley extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Otters blew past Poultney, posting a 49-12 victory. The Otters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 37 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after only 13 points in their last matchup, Rice Memorial made sure to put some points up on the board against Milton on Saturday. The Green Knights blew past the Yellowjackets 40-12. The win continues a trend for the Green Knights in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won five in a row.

Otter Valley better focus on containing Jack Tyson and Griffin Seitz as the pair were huge in Rice Memorial's win. Tyson rushed for 46 yards and one score, while Seitz rushed for 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Seitz also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Rice Memorial is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

One reason for the win was Rice Memorial's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaden Binkhorst and Garrett Pilon, who racked up five sacks between them. Seitz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Otter Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rice Memorial, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Otter Valley and Rice Memorial were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in September of 2024, but Otter Valley came up empty-handed after a 20-19 loss. Can the Otters avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
