Baseball Recap: La Porte Triumphs

After losing to Chesterton the last time they met, La Porte decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Slicers came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Slicers.

Cody Ryden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Chad Rusboldt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keegan Ramos, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

La Porte's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Chesterton, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat La Porte by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday.
