Baseball Game Preview: Banning Pilots vs. Verdugo Hills Dons

Banning is a perfect 6-0 against Verdugo Hills since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pilots will square off against the Dons at 6:00 p.m. Banning is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

Banning is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Garfield 2-1.

Banning saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pedro Ibanez-Eddy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Those three hits gave Ibanez-Eddy a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills hadn't done well against San Pedro recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Dons had just enough and edged out the Pirates 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dons.

Miguel Wong looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on David Castaneda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Hasen Macias also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Banning's record now sits at 21-8. As for Verdugo Hills, their record is now 13-16.

Banning was able to grind out a solid win over Verdugo Hills in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Pilots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
