Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Gridley's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Gridley proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 29) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds, sneaking past 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since December 28, 2024.

Gridley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bikram Kullar, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Kullar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Murillo, who posted nine points and five steals.

Las Plumas lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being T.J. Thompson, who put up 14 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Noeh Morrison, who scored 11 points and five rebounds.

Gridley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Las Plumas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.

Gridley and Las Plumas should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Gridley (ranked 261st) will meet Corning (ranked 683rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gridley is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Similarly, Las Plumas will square off against Live Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 735 places (364 vs. 1099). Gridley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
