Softball Recap: Summit Comes Up Short

Summit suffered their closest defeat since March 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Los Osos Grizzlies by a score of 4-2. The SkyHawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Summit got a good showing from Celeste Ibarra, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ibarra has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Summit and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Los Osos, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2-1.

Summit didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-11 victory against Chino on the 27th. As for Los Osos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-6 win against Hillcrest on the 26th.
