Softball Recap: Deep Creek Wins Going Away Against Nansemond River

Deep Creek had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Nansemond River Warriors 11-4 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Deep Creek let Bailey Cockrell and Izzy Shollenbarger run wild. Cockrell scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Shollenbarger scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Cockrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Liddell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Deep Creek now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Nansemond River, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deep Creek will host Currituck County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Nansemond River, they will be playing at home against Lakeland at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
