Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lawndale

Lawndale entered their tilt with Centennial on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Apaches with a sharp 14-4 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-3 last Tuesday.

Mariah Esparza made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Esparza was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Cynthia Palacios was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Daisy Lopez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lawndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lawndale picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Centennial, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Lawndale will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Leuzinger at 5:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Centennial, they will take on Firebaugh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
