Basketball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

Omaha North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elkhorn South Storm. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Omaha North still got an impressive performance from Jerri'On Williams, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Williams' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ban Yor, who posted nine points and four steals.

Lincoln Schwarz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elkhorn South, going 8 for 13 en route to 20 points and six boards. With that strong performance, Schwarz is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Cooper Mroczek, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Omaha North's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Elkhorn South, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be Northside v. Southside when Omaha North and Omaha South meet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Elkhorn South, they will welcome Omaha Central at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Central also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.8 points per game.
