Basketball Recap: Centennial Drops Highest Score of Season Against Heartland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They claimed a resounding 68-37 win over the Heartland Huskies. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won five in a row.

Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Slawnyk out in front who made all 6 shots he took for 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Slawnyk is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Chase Robinson also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebounds of the season.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Heartland's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Carter Siebert and Thane Wetjen. Siebert went 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points and five boards, while Wetjen posted eight points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sam Quiring, who scored six points.

Centennial's record now sits at 11-8. As for Heartland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Centennial has already played their next game, a 56-49 defeat against Cross County on the 14th. As for Heartland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-48 loss against Osceola on the 13th.
