Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Cyclones vs. Pine Bluffs Hornets

Having just played yesterday, the Southeast Cyclones will head out on the road to face off against the Pine Bluffs Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Pine Bluffs' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Southeast is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Lingle-Fort Laramie, who was ranked 15th at the time (Southeast was ranked 24th). Southeast took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lingle-Fort Laramie. The Cyclones have struggled against the Doggers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Pine Bluffs suffered their closest loss since January 6, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Big Horn by a score of 46-43. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southeast's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Pine Bluffs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Southeast came up short against Pine Bluffs when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 37-30. Can Southeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
