Soccer Game Preview: South Mecklenburg vs. Ballantyne Ridge

The South Mecklenburg Sabres will head out on the road to square off against the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Mecklenburg's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Berry with a sharp 9-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for South Mecklenburg considering their one-goal performance the game before.

Their offense was hitting Berry from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Journey Moore led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Ballantyne Ridge entered their tilt with Palisades on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Pumas. That's two games straight that Ballantyne Ridge have won by exactly nine goals.

South Mecklenburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight contests. As for Ballantyne Ridge, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Everything went South Mecklenburg's way against Ballantyne Ridge when the teams last played back in April, as South Mecklenburg made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabres since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
