Softball Recap: Empire Takes Down Yuma Catholic in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Empire rose to the challenge on Monday. They didn't even let the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks on the board, marking their second-straight 1-0 shutout. The Ravens' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four contests.

Not much got past Kendall Freidinger, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Yuma Catholic off the board. Freidinger has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances.

Empire hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuma Catholic struck out 13 times.

Empire's win bumped their record up to 28-1. As for Yuma Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-5.
