Basketball Recap: Cary Christian Takes a Loss

Cary Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 54-42 to the GRACE Christian Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-44 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cary Christian lost, don't look at Andrew Neal. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Neal's morning made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cennoth Kalisiak was another key player, putting up seven points.

GRACE Christian had a senior duo take command as Michael Phillips II almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards and Malachi Tate almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Tate has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Knight, who posted five points.

Cary Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for GRACE Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-17.

Cary Christian will head out to face off against Trinity Academy on Thursday. One thing working in Trinity Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games. GRACE Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
