Baseball Game Preview: Golden West Trailblazers vs. Central Valley Christian Cavaliers

The Golden West Trailblazers will square off against the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Golden West is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Golden West and Porterville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. Golden West put the hurt on Porterville with a sharp 6-0 victory.

David Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alfredo Enriquez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Central Valley Christian suffered their biggest defeat since May 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Clovis West, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.

Golden West now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Central Valley Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Golden West took their win against Central Valley Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Golden West since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
