Recap: Rincon/University Rangers vs. Empire Ravens
The Rincon/University Rangers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They lost to Empire at home by a decisive 28-13 margin. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Rincon/University was blown out by Empire in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Rincon/University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aundre King. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Empire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kienan Parker, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown. Ben Mazzei also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Rincon/University's defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 2-8 Amphitheater and 3-7 Flowing Wells (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.3% over those games). As for Empire, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Rincon/University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Empire also has no future games currently scheduled.
