Basketball Recap: Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves vs. Bennett County Warriors
The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 53-46 to Bennett County. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte of the 57-51 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Buffalo-halfred, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Suni Bowman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Bennett County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Chieftains at 5:30 p.m. As for Bennett County, they and the Warriors will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Francis Indian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
