Softball Game Preview: Livonia Bulldogs vs. Avon Braves

The Livonia Bulldogs will square off against the Avon Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Livonia knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Avon likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Livonia made easy work of Hornell and carried off a 10-4 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gwen Strom was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Chloe Meys was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Livonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Avon won against Le Roy on Wednesday with one run and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Braves didn't even let Warsaw on the board, marking the Braves' second-straight 1-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Jessie Crye made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.

Livonia pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Avon, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
