Volleyball Recap: Chino Hills Starts Season with Win at Home

Chino Hills took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on the Yucaipa Thunderbirds with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Huskies not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Chino Hills was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.

Leading Chino Hills to victory were Yanizza Gutierrez and Edith Leung. Gutierrez had 11 digs and two assists, while Leung had five digs and two aces. Gutierrez has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chino Hills will host Bonita at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Yucaipa, they will square off against Xavier Prep on Wednesday.
