Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Cumberland was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Prince Edward County on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dukes came up short against the Monticello Mustangs on Monday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dukes of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-19, 25-14.

Nadia Mithqal produced another solid effort getting 18 digs and five aces for Monticello. Mithqal is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Cumberland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Monticello, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7.

Cumberland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Amelia County on the 30th. As for Monticello, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Goochland on the 30th.
