Volleyball Game Preview: Pima Roughriders vs. Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans + Official Tickets

After both having extra time off, the Pima Roughriders and the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Pima came up short against St. David and fell 3-1.

While Pima ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Gilbert Classical Academy entered their match against Veritas Prep last Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since September 15th.

Gilbert Classical Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-10, 26-24.

Gilbert Classical Academy suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 11-5. As for Pima, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Everything went Pima's way against Gilbert Classical Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Pima made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roughriders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
