Volleyball Recap: Omar Abouelatta and Drake Wu Secure Win for Masterman

George Washington came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Masterman, but Aanand Shah wouldn't allow it. Masterman came out on top against George Washington by a score of 3-1 on Thursday with plenty of help from Shah, who had 27 digs and two aces. Shah is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

The win didn't come easy: George Washington scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Masterman was led to victory by Drake Wu and Omar Abouelatta. Wu had seven aces and one block, while Abouelatta had 21 digs, 13 kills, and four aces. Those 21 digs gave Abouelatta a new career-high. Tim Lan also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

Masterman's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for George Washington, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Coincidentally, Masterman and George Washington will both be playing Academy at Palumbo the next time they take the court. George Washington will host Academy at Palumbo at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, while Masterman will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on the 11th.
