Soccer Game Preview: Lely vs. Bonita Springs

The Lely Trojans will face off against the Bonita Springs Bullsharks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lely is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Lely's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Cypress Lake as Lely made off with a 3-0 win.

Aoife Bowe and Stassy Edouard scored all three of Lely's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Meanwhile, Bonita Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Palmetto Ridge, falling 9-1. While losing is never fun, the Bullsharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Bears are ranked 170th).

Lely is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Bonita Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Lely took their victory against Bonita Springs in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 5-0. Will Lely repeat their success, or does Bonita Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
