Softball Recap: Hobgood Charter Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hobgood Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Mattamuskeet Lakers on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now won four in a row.

Haleigh Eason made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Eason was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kinsey Peel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Rae Cannon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Hobgood Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hobgood Charter's record now sits at 8-4. As for Mattamuskeet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Hobgood Charter has already played their next matchup, an 11-5 defeat against North East Carolina Prep on the 23rd. As for Mattamuskeet, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Columbia at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Lakers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
