Millard South quarterback repeats as state POY after throwing for nearly 3,500 yards and 58 touchdowns.

America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jett Thomalla of
Millard South (Omaha) is the 2025 MaxPreps Nebraska High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior quarterback led the Patriots to a 12-1 record and second consecutive Class A state championship.
For the season, Thomalla completed 193 of 266 passes for 3,484 yards and 58 touchdowns against five interceptions. He added three more scores on the ground.

Millard South outscored its opposition 743-44 on the season with Thomalla leading an offense that piled up 61.8 points per game. The lone blemish on the Patriots' record was actually a 49-7 win over Arbor View of Nevada that was later ruled a forfeit loss.
In a 49-0 win over Papillion-LaVista South (Papillion) in the state championship game, Thomalla completed 15 of 21 passes for 288 yards and seven touchdowns.
The week prior in the semifinals, Thomalla completed 23 of 34 passes for 463 yards and seven touchdowns in a 62-21 win over Omaha Westside (Omaha).
In four playoff games, he threw for 1,354 yards and 19 touchdowns as Millard South won by an average margin of 44.3 points per game.
Thomalla threw for multiple scores in every game this season and had at least three touchdown passes in all but one. He finished his high school career as the state's all-time leader in passing yards (10,253) and passing touchdowns (134).
The Alabama commit is regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the Class of 2026 according to
247Sports. He committed to the Crimson Tide in June.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
