Preview: Pine-Richland Rams vs. Fox Chapel Foxes
Pine-Richland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Fox Chapel Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Pine-Richland lost to Mt. Lebanon at home by a decisive 54-39 margin. Pine-Richland has struggled against Mt. Lebanon recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Fox Chapel fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Baldwin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 67-56 to the Highlanders. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Fox Chapel got a solid performance out of Jefferson Moorefield-Brown, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Moorefield-Brown's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Will Siegel was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 12 rebounds.
Shaler Area's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Pine-Richland's loss dropped theirs to 1-1.
Pine-Richland skirted past Fox Chapel 65-62 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pine-Richland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
