The Red Raiders walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Eagles on Thursday. While the Red Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Briana VanHaneghan made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. VanHaneghan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Addi Gendron was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shelby Geer, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Palmyra-Macedon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only managed five hits.
Wayne is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Palmyra-Macedon, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmyra-Macedon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Palmyra-Macedon's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
