Baseball Game Preview: Estes Park Bobcats vs. Platte Valley Broncos

Estes Park hasn't had much luck against Platte Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Estes Park will head out on the road to challenge Platte Valley at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Estes Park barely beat Weld Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Estes Park's pitcher stepped up to hand Weld Central a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Matthias Westley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Hill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Estes Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weld Central only posted an OBP of .211.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Platte Valley). Everything went their way against Greeley Central on Thursday as Platte Valley made off with a 16-5 victory. With that win, the Broncos brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.

Dagan Gomez was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those doubles marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Nick Silvas, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Platte Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Estes Park, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Estes Park might still be hurting after the 13-4 loss they got from Platte Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Estes Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
