Softball Game Preview: Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers vs. Independence Mustangs

The Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers will head out to square off against the Independence Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Center Point-Urbana has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Center Point-Urbana had taken Mt. Vernon down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Stormin' Pointers fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-4.

Meanwhile, Independence didn't have quite enough to beat Benton on Monday and fell 7-6. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Center Point-Urbana's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything went Center Point-Urbana's way against Independence in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, as Center Point-Urbana made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stormin' Pointers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
