Volleyball Recap: East Carteret Takes a Loss

East Carteret was the 3-1 winner over Lejeune when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Mariners fell just short of the Devilpups by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

East Carteret wouldn't go down easily and took Lejeune into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 25-27, 14-25, 15-9.

Vivian Kruczko paced East Carteret's offense, picking up 17 kills. Kruczko got some help from Kolby Piner and her 37 assists. KJ Bass controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

East Carteret now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Lejeune, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East Carteret will challenge rival Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lejeune is set to face off against their familiar foe Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
