Volleyball Recap: Granite City Comes Up Short

Granite City lost against Belleville West back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Warriors fell just short of the Maroons by a score of 2-1. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Maroons 25-20 in the first set.

Granite City actually scored more points across those three sets (71-70), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Granite City has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Belleville West, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-16 record this season.

Belleville West will host Father McGivney Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Granite City will be paying especially close attention to the Maroons' matchup: after the Maroons face off against the Griffins, they'll take on Granite City again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
