Basketball Preview: Nova Titans vs. Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars

Nova put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cooper City 63-21 at home. With Nova ahead 36-5 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
J'Yan Tyrell and Jaelynn Housey were among the main playmakers for Nova as the former almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds and the latter scored 21 points along with seven assists and six steals. Housey is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyra Paul, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Pembroke Pines Charter rose to the challenge on Monday. They walked away with a 59-49 win over the Paladins. Pembroke Pines Charter's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pembroke Pines Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Rivera out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 24 rebounds. Rivera is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Madison Ojeda was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Nova is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Nova have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pembroke Pines Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 43.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
