Basketball Game Preview: Monument Academy Lynx vs. Pikes Peak Christian Eagles

The Monument Academy Lynx will venture away from home to face off against the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Monument Academy has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while Pikes Peak Christian will arrive with three straight wins.

Monument Academy lost 53-27 to Kiowa two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Monument Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Matthew Smith posted 17 points.

Meanwhile, Pikes Peak Christian was fully in charge on Monday, breezing past Kiowa 71-37. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Monument Academy better keep an eye on Eddie Harmon. He was instrumental in Pikes Peak Christian's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Harmon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 32 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Whitmore, who on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Pikes Peak Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 23 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Pikes Peak Christian's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Monument Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
