Football Recap: Weedsport Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Weedsport dropped to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 26-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Adirondack Wildcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolverines came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Wildcats are ranked 324th).

Adirondack's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Robert Weiler had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 202 yards and four scores while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Those 202 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weedsport will welcome Sandy Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. The Wolverines will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Adirondack, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oneida at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
