Baseball Game Preview: Teurlings Catholic Rebels vs. St. Thomas More Cougars

The Teurlings Catholic Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the St. Thomas More Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Teurlings Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Live Oak, who was ranked first at the time (Teurlings Catholic was ranked fourth). Teurlings Catholic fell just short of Live Oak by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rebels have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Teurlings Catholic got a good showing from Lincoln Guillory, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Guillory gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four games.

At the plate, Teurlings Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Axel Tyler, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Meanwhile, St. Thomas More came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wolves.

This is the second loss in a row for Teurlings Catholic and nudges their season record down to 13-3. As for St. Thomas More, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.

Teurlings Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Thomas More when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Teurlings Catholic since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
