Volleyball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights vs. Marquette Mustangs
Incarnate Word Academy faced Marquette in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Red Knights came up short against the Mustangs, falling 3-0. The Red Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
While Incarnate Word Academy ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.
Despite the defeat, Incarnate Word Academy had strong showings from Audrey Schaeffer, who had 21 digs and two assists, and Kendall Stroer, who had 17 digs.
Marquette found their leader in freshman Camille Plunkett, who had 11 digs and four assists. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Plunkett.
