Soccer Recap: Mater Academy Charter Comes Up Short

Mater Academy Charter was the 1-1 winner over Varela when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mater Academy Charter Lions fell just short of the Varela Vipers by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

Mater Academy Charter's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Varela, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Mater Academy Charter and Varela could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Mater Academy Charter (ranked 313th) will meet Sports Leadership & Management (ranked 101st) at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Varela will square off against Ferguson at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday down 299 places (326 vs. 27).
