Softball Game Preview: Thayer Bobcats vs. Willow Springs Bears

The Thayer Bobcats will challenge the Willow Springs Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Thayer sitting on nine straight wins and Willow Springs on three.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Thayer and Cabool meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Bobcats blew past the Bulldogs 14-2. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Willow Springs came out on top against Mountain Grove on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Bears skirted past the Panthers 10-8.

Thayer's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Willow Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Thayer came out on top in a nail-biter against Willow Springs when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
