Basketball Recap: South View Drops Season-High Score on Purnell Swett

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South View). They claimed a resounding 86-57 win over the Purnell Swett Rams. The Tigers have beaten the Rams the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.

Antrell Gilmore was his usual excellent self, going 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points and six steals. What's more, he also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Demarcus Spearman was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and seven assists.

South View was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Purnell Swett still got an impressive performance from Collin Sampson, who went 12-for-23 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Cummings, who posted nine points.

South View's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Purnell Swett, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 18 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Coming up, South View and Lumberton will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Lumberton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests. Purnell Swett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
