Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Liberty Common Eagles
On Saturday, Thornton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-30 to Liberty Common. Thornton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Thornton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camryn Montelongo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Montelongo is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was My'la Hernandez Gutierrez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Liberty Common, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Thornton will head out on the road to face off against Alameda at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Alameda is ranked 230th, while Thornton is ranked 217th). Liberty Common will be home for the holidays to greet Jefferson Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
