Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Alexandria Cardinals + Official Tickets

Apollo hasn't had much luck against Alexandria recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will take on the Cardinals in a holiday battle at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Alexandria will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Apollo extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 79-68 win over Fergus Falls.

Alexandria might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 81-74 to Maple Grove, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Apollo will need to focus on slowing down Mason Witt, one of several Alexandria players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 30 points. Witt's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Roderick, who shot 40% from the field en route to 23 points.

Apollo's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Alexandria, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Apollo took a serious blow against Alexandria in their previous matchup back in February, falling 109-37. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
