Elgin lost against South Elgin back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Maroons took a blow against the Storm, falling 64-21. The Maroons' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Elgin lost, don't look at Lamarin Powell. Despite the final result, he picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown. Powell's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Jamiere Moore got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for South Elgin, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Elgin will welcome Bartlett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Elgin, they are taking a road trip to square off against Aurora East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tomcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
